What a lovely and generous concept.

Poverty is topic no one likes to talk about, but it is all around us.

This is incredibly kind and generous. I never really thought that if you don't offer a paid option that Substack doesn't get paid for providing this great platform for us to use. I only realized it when Margaret Atwood sent out her brilliant post last week. I love that you are also doing this and providing funds to a very worthy charity. Bravo.

What a fantastically generous idea. I hope there are lots of sign ups. Not just because generosity is A Good Thing but because David's writing is always thought-provoking and excellent.

Great idea to help out those who need it the most.

David: I’m about to start offering this kind of option. Does one have to arrange anything special with the organization, or just send them your revenues?

You don't have to do anything with the organization. If you're already involved with the organization, however, they would probably like to hear what you're doing in the hope of encouraging others to think of creative ways to raise money. And if they have a newsletter or email list, they'd probably want to mention what you're doing and an opportunity to link to your substack as well since the more subscribers, the better for the organization.

Congrats on doing this!

David, what a great initiative! My plan is to grow my publication so that I will be able to pay guest writers substantially out of my revenues.
